What to send for a 3D rendering quote: a checklist

Timber and glass cabin on a forested hillside with stone steps at sunset, 3D exterior render

The faster a studio understands your project, the faster and more accurate the quote. Use this checklist when you contact a 3D rendering studio, and you will usually get a fixed price and timeline without a long back and forth.

1. Drawings and models

  • Plans, elevations and sections as DWG or PDF files.
  • A SketchUp model or any other 3D model you already have, if one exists.
  • Site plan and levels, especially for exteriors and landscapes.

2. Materials and finishes

  • A material or finish schedule, or notes on the main materials.
  • Photos or product links for anything specific, such as tiles, stone or cladding.
  • For interiors, a furniture list or moodboard.

3. The views you need

4. Style references

  • Two or three images of renders or photos whose look you like.
  • Anything you want to avoid, so it is not repeated.

5. How the images will be used

  • Marketing, planning, a client presentation or a competition.
  • The resolution and format you need, such as print, web or social.

6. Timeline and practicalities

  • Your deadline, and any fixed dates such as a launch or a meeting.
  • Whether you need an NDA before sharing files.
  • Whether the work should be delivered unbranded. See our white-label service.

Do not worry if something is missing

You do not need everything on this list to ask for a quote. Send what you have and say what is still undecided, and the studio can scope around it. If you want to understand the price before you ask, read how much 3D architectural rendering costs.
